Residents of Millcroft Living hopped on board a fad that’s currently wildly trendy but has, in fact, been around for thousands of years…body art, more commonly referred to as tattoos.

Residents of the senior living community in Newark, Delaware, were proudly sportin’ cool new “tats’ last week as Millcroft Living celebrated its Booze and Tattoos event.

Residents of independent living at the senior living community had admired body art, primarily from afar. They were excited when given the opportunity to get their own, albeit temporary, tattoos.

Kelly Donovan, life enrichment director, said that some residents had seen something about a similar tattoo event, and she was pleased to arrange one for them. She purchased a variety of semi-permanent tattoos.

Approximately two dozen residents and their families and Millcroft Living staff participated in the event. A favorite genre for tattoos, Kelly noted, was ‘goth.’

The residents were able to apply their tats with assistance from the life enrichment team while enjoying a cocktail, beer, or wine. They also listened to their favorite music from a resident DJ playlist. “Residents love to try new things, and this was especially fun because tattoos are so popular right now but really unusual in senior living. They had a blast!” said Kelly.
